The main idea of using baking soda is to leave a cleaned surface without damage regardless of the type of material from which it is made. We do not have to worry about the deformations caused by a high temperature, as it is in the case of sandblasting or microscopic cracks caused by lowering the temperature while cleaning the surface with dry ice.
